The River Ayr is a good all round fishing water, having runs of salmon, seatrout, brown trout and grayling.

The River Ayr is approximately 65 kilometres in length. The river originates at Glenbuck Loch and winds its way to the town of Ayr, where it empties via Ayr harbour into the Firth of Clyde of the Atlantic Ocean.
