Census 1901 Scotland
An 1901 census image is a digital image comprising a double page of the original enumeration book, containing the member of a household in which you are interested. Other households will also appear on the image.
The 1901 Census for Scotland was taken on the night of 31 March/1 April 1901.
A census image contains the following information for each person in a household on census night:
Surname
Forename(s)
Sex
Age (last birthday)
County and District
Address
Relation to head of family
Condition as to marriage
Profession or occupation
Whether an employer, employed or working on own account
Whether working at home
Where born
Whether Gaelic speaker or Gaelic and English speaker
Whether 1. Deaf and dumb, 2. Blind, 3. Lunatic, imbecile or idiot
There is also a column in the 1901 census giving the number of rooms in the house with one or more windows. |
