Census 1861 Scotland
An 1861 census image is a digital image comprising a double page of the original enumeration book, containing the member of a household in which you are interested. Other households will also appear on the image.
The 1861 Census for Scotland was taken on the night of 7/8 April 1861.
A census image contains the following information for each person in a household on census night:
Surname
Forename(s)
Sex
Age
County and District
Address
Relation to head of family
Condition (i.e. married, unmarried, widow or widower)
Rank, profession or occupation
Where born
Whether Blind or Deaf and dumb
There is also a column in the 1861 census indicating the number of children aged 5-13 attending school, and also one giving the number of rooms in the house with one or more windows. |
